Zimbabweans Name DJ Tira After Former First Lady Grace Mugabe’s Maiden Name
The DJ Tira passport saga keeps getting interesting by the day.
Yesterday, the Afrotainment owner posted a picture of his Wikipedia profile, and he captioned the screenshot, “Say hello to Mr Marufu 🤘🏾”
DJ Tira’s Wikipedia profile suggested that his name is now Dirarizare Marufu. Interestingly, Zimbabwe’s former First Lady Grace Mugabe’s maiden name is Grace Marufu. Zimbabweans have been joking that Tira is related to Grace Mugabe.
Earlier this month, DJ Tira travelled to Gwanda in Zimbabwe, and it was only after the show, when he was preparing to return to Durban that he realised he had lost his passport.
He had to spend a few days in Zimbabwe to travel to the South African Embassy in Harare to sort out his travel documents so he could move back to Zimbabwe.
During that time, Zimbabweans poured out so much love for him and made him feel welcome, and he even went on a media tour, granting Zimbabwean radio stations interviews.
Zimbabweans showed him so much love that they booked him for another unplanned show in Kadoma on 15 July, which was a huge success.
One naughty Zimbabwean decided to give DJ Tira a Zimbabwean identity since he no longer has a passport. They went to Wikipedia and edited his name to Dirarizare Marufu.
Dirarizare is a popular Shona phrase meaning “fill up my cup”; a cup of beer, that is. It became a meme trend in Zimbabwe earlier this year, used to explain a painful situation that forces someone to drown their sorrow with alcohol.
Check out how people reacted online after DJ Tira endorsed his new name Dirarizare Marufu.
People don’t even know that you are my Malume. Big up, Malume Dira, my mom’s sister.
Dirarizare Marufu…Wait! So DJ Tira is related to Grace Marufu (Mugabe)? kkkkk
The comments section is killing me 🤣🤣🤣.
Africa loves DJ Tira – and he officially doesn’t belong to South Africa only. Every country is claiming him.
In other news, he loves hanging around Zimbabweans – you need to do a DNA test, and we have a dude for that in Zimbabwe 😁
I have always been suspecting that “DJ Tira” is a Zimbabwean.
