Police officer Manoj Kumar Pathak from the Murar police station said: “As per the FIR, the woman had gone to a bank along with her son for some work, but didn’t return home on time.
“Her family members finally found her near a pond in the village around 3am on Sunday.
“The body of the woman’s son was fished out from the pond.
The woman’s dad also alleged his grandchild had been killed in front of her, reports The Sun.
According to local reports, the victim’s condition is stable and she is currently seeking treatment in Sadar Hospital.
Buxar superintendent Neeraj Kumar Singh said one person has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Meena Ram, 50, is in police custody, and police are looking for a second accused who is reportedly evading arrest.
Mr Singh said: “Raids are on to arrest all those involved in the crime. The woman’s medical examination was conducted by a board of doctors and the report is awaited.”
Dumraon Sub Divisional Police Officer Krishna Kumar Singh claimed the victim did not have good relations with her husband and she lived with her parents.
“The woman’s husband was staying at the house of his in-laws for the last two days in a bid to convince her to return him,” he said.
