Witchcraft Scare As Owl Causes Chaos At A Funeral
There was chaos at a funeral in Chitungwiza recently when it was alleged that an owl was spotted prompting people to accuse a woman, who was a rival resident at the house, of witchcraft.
H-Metro reports that mourners became violent and destroyed a fowl run in search of an owl believed to have been used in bewitching the deceased, Shylet Muzuva, 42, following an estate wrangle.
People chanted songs that denigrated Tsitsi Murwira accusing her of having a hand in Muzuva’s death with a view to remain as the owner of the house.
Murwira was quick to dismiss the allegations although she acknowledged that there was bad blood between her and the late Muzuva.
The house in question did not belong to any of the two ladies but it belongs to the late Chihuri and the estate is yet to be distributed.
Murwira’s chicken run was destroyed by some hooligans who claimed that they were looking for the hidden owl which none of the mourners witnessed to have seen.
The publication reports that Murwira, an ardent follower of Joanne Masowe yeChishanu said that her differences with the deceased started two years back when the house owner passed on.
Muzuva family spokesperson Sasha Muchemwa said Murwira denied the late access to ablution facilities and electricity in an effort to force her out of the family house.
She said the now deceased suffered a terrible headache on Saturday only and she died raising suspicion of witchcraft but she admitted that she never saw the said owl.
It is alleged that the misunderstanding between the late Muzuva and Murwira concerning the family house which did not belong to any of the two had that it was talk of the neighbourhood.
The late Muzuva is survived by one child.
