Vegan activist banned from every pub in home state for number of stunts in restaurants

A vegan activist who protests in restaurants yelling at diners has been banned from everywhere selling booze in her state.

Tash Peterson who has thousands of followers on Instagram, says she is leaving Western Australia (WA) to stage her stunts elsewhere after being slapped with Barring Notice.

Peterson shared in a video on social media that if she steps foot in another WA venue where alcohol is sold, she will be trespassing and faces a fine of AUD $10,000 (£5,400).

The move from the authorities comes following her protest at a seafood restaurant in Freemantle on May 2, where she and others blasted diners for their choice of food, LadBible reports.

Peterson yelled at them how billions of animals die a year for the fishing industry in the “largest Holocaust in history”.

As she left, the activist branded diners “animal abusers” before the group chanted: “Fish want to live, fish feel pain, just like us!”

Speaking about the legal action taken against her, Peterson said: “The police came to my house this morning to serve a Barring Notice upon me for a sea life Seaspiracy protest that I did last month highlighting the sea life holocaust caused by the fishing industry.

“This is a clear example of how so-called freedom of speech is not actually freedom of speech at all.”

She added that the ban was her second, the first coming after she invaded an Australian football pitch.

Peterson’s protest included placards carried by others urging diners to watch a fishing industry documentary called Seaspiracy on Netflix.

In the new video, she explains how she will now move somewhere else in Australia to continue her activism.

Peterson says: “Guess what, WA? I’m getting the f*** out of here anyway so I can continue to do my protesting in other states in places that sell alcohol.

“I’m probably going to be over east in one month’s time and I’m flying out on Monday.”

She explained that the inclusion of liquor in the notice was irrelevant to her as she was not behaving under the influence of alcohol during her protest.

Tasha’s Instagram bio says ‘If you’re not vegan, you’re an animal abuser’

Tasha said: “This is not an alcohol-related incident.

“I wasn’t drunk. I barely drink alcohol. They’re just using it to try to stop me protesting.”

Shocked at the announcement, followers offered their support for the activist in the comments beneath the clip.

One person said: “So because you protest and speak your mind, you can’t even go to your local supermarket?! Just because it sells alcohol!”

Another added: “I had no idea there was no freedom of speech in West Australia. What a shame.”

Tasha added in her video that she will be heading to court to fight another fine in August, for a separate incident last year.

“Things like this are not going to stop me, it’s only going to fuel my fire to continue protesting.”
