Uzalo Actors Living In Fear After “Nosipho” & “Pastor Sambulo Gwala” Fired From Soapie

Uzalo’s cast and crew are reported to be in a state of shock and living in fear after ‘Nosipho’ and “Pastor Sambulo Gwala” were allegedly fired from the long-running SABC 1 soapie.

The two actors, Nompilo Maphumulo, who plays Nosipho Xulu and Menzi Biyela, who plays the role of her fiance, Pastor Sambulo Gwala, were reportedly fired from Uzalo during contract negotiations.

A source close to the developments told the online publication the Daily Sun that tensions are running high at the show as people are still shocked at the abrupt dismissal of the two top actors.

“The situation is tense as some actors don’t know whether their contracts will be renewed or not, but Nosipho and Pastor Gwala are leaving. They were told their contracts will not be renewed,” said the source.

Another source at the popular soapie revealed that the remaining Uzalo actors are living in fear as they are unsure of what the future holds for them. The source told the publication,

“Nompilo is talented. She has been with Uzalo since season one and delivered the best. When colleagues heard she was leaving, everyone was shocked. Menzi is experienced and talented. His contract not being renewed was scary for others.”

When reached for comment, Menzi Biyela declined to speak on the issue. Instead, he referred all comments to Stained Glass Productions, the multi-award-winning production house for Uzalo.

“We will communicate with our viewers and the public about changes to their favourite show when the time is right.”
