The US federal prison system has been put into a total lockdown across the country after two people died in an outbreak of violence by the brutal MS-13 gang.

The move on Monday night came after a horrific attack on morning at USP Beaumont in Texas, according to the Associated Press.

Two other inmates are receiving treatment in hospital.

The last time the Federal Bureau of Prisons issued an order for a lockdown of all American prisons was in April 2020 when coronavirus began to spread through cells across the nation.

It also implemented the measure in the hours after the storming of the US Capitol by Donald Trump supporters on January 6, 2021.
