UK Deported Zimbabweans Arrive
Zimbabweans deported from the United Kingdom (UK) arrived this Thursday at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.
The 14 deported Zimbabweans were whisked away in two ZUPCO buses to an unknown location after landing in Harare at 10 AM.

The UK had hoped to deport around 50 people on this flight, but only a third of the passengers boarded the charter from Stansted Airport following legal challenges and a Covid-19 outbreak which forced dozens of escorts to self-isolate.
Reports suggest that the UK and the Zimbabwe governments initially agreed to deport 150 Zimbabwean asylum seekers but only 50 were set to board the deportation charter flight to Zimbabwe last night.
After hearing about the deportation, some engaged lawyers in order to stop the development while protests erupted at the Zimbabwe House.
An emergency out-of-hours high court challenge by Duncan Lewis solicitors to halt the whole flight, unfortunately, did not succeed.
This development is reportedly the first mass deportation flight to Zimbabwe in many years and marks the start of a planned ‘summer season’ of charter flight deportations to countries including Vietnam and Jamaica that the Home Office is planning.
Meanwhile, there are reports that hours before the flight take off two detainees due to board it threw themselves from a second-floor.
The two detainees are believed to have been unharmed.
