For The Love Of Expensive Bling: Teen Robs Parents At Gunpoint To Get Money To Buy Sneakers
A 19-year-old teenager’s love of expensive bling got the better of him after he held up his parents at gunpoint and robbed them just to get money to buy expensive sneakers.
The suspect only identified as Kagiso, from west of Joburg was arrested together with two other suspects after they robbed his parents at gunpoint.
According to the Daily Sun, Kagiso allegedly teamed up with his friend and went to his adoptive parents’ home on Friday at about 9 pm.
Their faces covered in balaclavas, they stormed into the house with guns, demanding money.
But the son made a bad mistake. The minute he opened his mouth to demand money, his parents immediately recognized his voice and asked him why he was doing this to them.
When his mother challenged him, he said;
“I’m here to take what I want. Leave me alone and shut up!”
Unwavered that his parents have busted him, Kagiso and his friend reportedly carried on and tied the father with a belt.
They started to search the tied-up man and took his wallet with R1 000, his Sassa card, and driver’s license. They also took three cellphones.
They locked the parents in the bedroom and left with the house keys.
After they set themselves free they immediately alerted the police.
Kagiso and his friend were arrested after his parents laid charges against them at the police station.
Speaking after the incident, Kagiso’s mother said they’re hurt and disappointed by what their son did to them.
She revealed that she knows that her son likes expensive things and to impress his friends but she never thought he would go to such great lengths to satisfy his hunger for expensive fashion.
Kagiso’s mother said her son used to steal from her and he once stole her bank card and spent R16 000 going out with friends and buying expensive clothes.
After the latest incident, she now believes that he’s dangerous.
The worried mother said she doesn’t want to stay with him again as she suspects that he is also into drugs.
Kagiso has already appeared in court facing theft charges and he is set to make his second appearance in the Kagiso Magistrates Court soon.
