Sheikh Gumi Reveals What He Will Do if His Child Is Kidnapped by Bandits

A prominent Islamic preacher, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has stated that he will head to Aso Rock if his child is abducted by bandits.

The cleric made the statement during an interview with the BBC Pidgin which was published on Friday, May 7.

Gumi stated that he would never keep quiet if his child was among the kidnapped Greenfield University students. He reiterated his advice for the federal government to pay N100 million ransom to free the students.

The cleric said: “Life versus material; that is how you will look at it. It is the absolute responsibility of the government to protect lives. Now we have lives or N100 million at stake and these lives of 17 innocent young children.’’

“I can’t imagine if my child is there. I can never keep quiet. I will go and knock on Aso Rock, if my child is there. They are my children too.” He said bandits do not feel the pain of kidnapping because they don’t have access to quality education. Gumi disclosed that he had informed the government that if bandits have schools, they will not attack people.

Meanwhile, bandits have revealed the reasons they killed five innocent students from Greenfield University in Kaduna state. According to the criminals, the students were killed to show the government’s failure. According to Daily Trust, the bandits claim they will keep on killing the students until their demands are met. They disclosed this in an interview with the Hausa Service of Voice of America (VOA).

In another news, the governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai has revealed that they were prepared to lose some children during a planned attack on bandits when the 29 students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka were abducted. According to him, the plan was to attack, kill the bandits even if it meant some students would die in the process and rescue the rest, The Punch reports.
