Road Rage Gone Wrong: Motorist Beaten To Death By “Pickup” Passengers

A Harare man died after he was beaten to death following an incident of road rage along the Harare-Bulawayo Road.

The victim, identified as Simeon Norman, died after being ganged up on and beaten by at least 10 passengers from a pickup truck following a heated altercation.

The road rage incident and the subsequent death occurred in March 2022.

The police are now appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of the ten suspects who beat Simeon to death.

It is not clear why the authorities are only appealing for information now, almost 5 months after the incident.

In a statement released on Wednesday afternoon, National Police Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said,


“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of ten (10) suspects involved In a murder case which occurred on 09 March 2022 near the National Sports Stadium, along Harare- Bulawayo Road.

“On 09 March 2022, at around 1900 hours, the victim, Simeon Norman (31) was driving a Mercedes Benz E320 vehicle with three passengers on board along Harare-Bulawayo Road from Harare city centre to Kuwadzana.

“Along the way, the victim was caught up in a dispute with the suspects who were passengers in a truck which was proceeding in the same direction. One of the suspects threw some maputi in the victim’s vehicle.

“The ten (10) suspects then disembarked from the truck and attacked the victime before fleeing from the scene. The victim died on his way to the hospital.
