Vladimir Putin’s sabre-rattling over Ukraine is scuppering any chance we have of alien contact, a UFO expert has warned.
Nick Pope – who investigated flying saucers for the MOD – believes ETs who keep a close eye on earth will view Russia’s escalation of tensions with its neighbour as “primitive behaviour”.
And the UFO expert says sophisticated alien civilisations, who he reckons would be light years ahead of us, may see it as a reason not to visit us or get in touch.
Nick said: “Highly evolved extraterrestrials probably regard warfare as something that only primitive civilizations engage in, so the Ukraine situation means we’re unlikely to get an invitation to join the Galactic Federation for the time being.”
Russia has denied planning an invasion of Ukraine but has moved 100,000 troops to their border.
Our Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has accused Putin of wanting to recreate the Soviet Union by invading the country.
But Nick says although Russian troops outnumber ours, aliens were likely to understand why the UK would join in any fight against Russian intimidation.
Nick added: “Aliens might wonder at the wisdom of the UK going up against Russia, but would probably realize that being in a coalition helps.
“And if they knew their Earth history, they’d know never to write off the Brits.”
Nato allies suspect Putin’s denial of a planned invasion is fale after he annexed Crimea from Ukraine in 2014.
Ms Truss also warned: “We are very clear, together with our allies in the G7, with our allies in Nato, that if there is an incursion by Russia into Ukraine, it would come at a massive cost.
“We are prepared to put very severe sanctions in place.”
She added that the UK was already supporting Ukraine with defence.
Earlier this week, Britain announced it was supplying Ukraine with extra troops for training and defensive weapons.
In her speech yesterday, Ms Truss said President Putin must “desist and step back from Ukraine before he makes a massive strategic mistake”.
She added: “The Kremlin haven’t learnt the lessons of history.
“They dream of recreating the Soviet Union, or a kind of greater Russia, carving up territory based on ethnicity and language.
“They claim they want stability while they work to threaten and destabilise others.”
