While narrating the ugly incident, the victim said two other sales representatives, aged 10 and 14, fought at the store, which resulted in the damage of some items.
The woman was allegedly scalded by the perpetrator, who operates a supermarket in the region after some of her store’s merchandise were destroyed.
“The Lagos State Government has announced the urgent prosecution of 50-year-old Mrs. Rashidat Adeleke for allegedly beating her 29-year-old saleslady by splashing boiling water on her face at the Ikotun region of the state,” the Directorate of Citizens Rights said in a statement.
The suspect employed the victim as a saleslady in 2019, but she ended up residing with her due to high transportation fare and other stress-related issues for the past 18 months before the ugly incident happened.
The victim narrated that her employer had the habit of abusing her at the slighted provocation. While narrating the ugly incident, the victim said two other sales representatives, aged 10 and 14, fought at the store, which resulted in the damage of some items.
When they returned home that evening, Alhaja Adeleke inquired about the bangles for sale being destroyed by the younger salesgirls, to which the victim said that she had no idea. Alhaja Adeleke then carried her into the kitchen, shut her inside, and asked the younger sales staff whether there was any hot water, to which they replied that there was none.
Rashidat Adeleke allegedly heated water and poured it over the victim’s head. The victim attempted to flee, but her boss prevented her from doing so. She allegedly boiled water for the second time and put it on the victim, who then passed out. Despite being severely burned, Alhaja Adeleke continued to flog the victim’s representative.
