Victor Osimhen has distanced himself from the comments made by his brother Andrew Osimhen regarding his struggle for form with Napoli.

Osimhen has scored twice for Napoli since his big-money move from Lille in the summer of 2020.

According to reports his brother Andrew claimed Napoli coach Genarro Gattuso isn’t playing to the strength of the striker and also suggested his teammates have to pay through him for often.

Osimhen who featured in Napoli’s defeat to Granada on Thursday took to his Instagram page to distance himself from the comments, adding that his brother is not representing himself and his comment shouldn’t be treated as an official statement.

“I wish to make it clear that asking for a football-related opinion to a relative of mine is not the same as asking me directly. I love Napoli, the club, my coach, and my team. I especially love my teammates and I hope to continue growing and improving to help the team more”, he posted on Instagram.

“This is my official opinion and I ask you to respect it. No one is my spokesperson or whatsoever” he concluded.

The Super Eagles striker is expected to return to the lineup when Napoli travels to Atalanta this Sunday.
