No Agreement Reached With Chelsea Over Marc Cucurella-Brighton Hove
Brighton Hove has issued a stern statement to deny rumors that the club has reached an agreement with Chelsea over Marc Cucurella deal.
Yesterday, social media and various media outlets ran with the story that Chelsea had successfully hijacked Manchester City’s target, Marc Cucurella.
One of the transfer mongers, Fabrizio Romano insinuated that Chelsea and Brighton Hove have agreed to a fee of £50 million and Levi Colwill was part of the swap deal.
“Marc Cucurella to Chelsea, here we go! Full agreement in place between Chelsea and Brighton for more than £50m. Levi Colwill is on the verge of joining Brighton soon. 🚨🔵 #CFC Personal terms already agreed, no way for Man City. Cucurella will become Chelsea’s new signing, done.”
In denying various reports of Cucurrella’s deal being wrapped off, Brighton Hove in a statement said:
“CLUB STATEMENT: MARC CUCURELLA.
“Contrary to inaccurate reports from numerous media outlets this evening, no agreement has been reached with any club to sell Marc Cucurella.”
According to reports, Manchester City has been looking to bolster its squad with Cucurella following the departure of Oleksandr Zinchenko who reignited his relationship with City’s former assistant coach Mikel Arteta.
It was reported that City sent a bid of £40 million to Brighton Hove who trashed the initial proposal of the window demanding a fee of around £50 million.
“More on Cucurella. Chelsea will talk today with Brighton to discuss fees and players to be involved, Colwill will be part of the conversations. Also, Chelsea will make a contract bid to Cucurella. 🔵🇪🇸 #CFC Man City remains in the same position: £40m or nothing. No agreement with Brighton”, wrote Fabrizio.
However, it remains to be seen if Chelsea will successfully hijack the deal following Brighton Hove denying to have been sealed the deal of Cucurella with Thomas Tuchel’s side.
