Nhlanhla Lux Not Eating In Jail Because He’ll be Poisoned
Operation Dudula leader Nhlanhla Lux Dlamini is not eating food offered to him by the police while in jail because his organisation believes that he will be poisoned.
This was revealed by Patriotic Alliance deputy president Kenny Kunene during an interview on eNCA. Nhlanhla Lux is spending the weekend behind bars following his arrest on Thursday.
It is believed Lux was arrested in relation to a case opened in Soweto by a resident who said some of the Operation Dudula activists broke into his home while he was not around. Nhlanhla has been at the forefront of protests against undocumented foreign nationals and drug dealers.
Kenny Kunene said the manner and circumstances surrounding Nhlanhla Lux’ arrest are fishy, and this could lead to him being killed in prison.
He said: “The crime intelligence people that came there said to him ‘you were arrested in Dobsonville’ when he was arrested in Hyde Park. They didn’t even know where he was arrested. He is supposed to be at the Dobsonville Police Station, yet he is at Johannesburg Central Police Station. And the station commander is saying ‘Guys, I have no control over this person because he was not arrested by my officers. I must talk to the Investigating Officer to determine what should happen going forward.
“The Investigating Officer comes around lunchtime, we’ve been there since morning. So, the police there had to at least use their brains also to say let us allow these interventions so that the crowd can get feedback from its leaders. We asked them that Nhlanhla Lux must not eat food at the police station because we suspect that he’ll be poisoned.
“We have also asked that Nhlanhla Lux must be put in a cell alone because last night he slept with people that he does not know. And whilst we were there, an illegal foreigner was brought into his cell. We know what happens in police custodies. We have requested and there was an agreement that he gets his cell, and his mother will be the only one that buys him food and delivers it to him at the police station.”
Lux’ supporters had to be dispersed by the police with teargas from Johannesburg Central Police Station yesterday, and some were beaten.
