‘MONSTER MUM’ ‘drowned newborn baby in faeces-filled pit toilet after secretly delivering him in the kitchen

A cruel MOTHER threw her newborn baby into a pit latrine toilet after secretly birthing him in her kitchen.

Liliya Riznyk, 31, then patiently made herself a sandwich with the same knife she used to cut the umbilical cord, police in Ukraine say.

She later told police the baby had fallen head first on to the floor.

Riznyk cut the umbilical cord with a kitchen knife before lifting the newborn boy up by the leg and putting him into a plastic bag.

Reports say she broke one of the child’s legs while stuffing him into the bag.

Riznyk said during a police interrogation: “It [the newborn baby] was lying on the floor and not moving. I did not check if it was alive.

“I put it in a yellow plastic bag and threw it into the toilet.”

The mother carried the bag with her child inside to a pit latrine toilet near her house and threw him into the drop hole, police said.

After leaving the child in the faeces-filled pit, Riznyk went to a local shop to by some beer, behaving as if nothing had happened.

But her neighbours in the village of Zavodivka became suspicious when they saw her belly had become flatter and smaller.

The village mayor, Maksym Kutovyi, told local media: “She was saying that she put on some weight trying to hide her pregnancy from everybody.

“So when her belly got flatter and smaller it looked suspicious and I called the police.”

When officers raided Riznyk’s house, she confessed to delivering the baby and throwing him into the pit latrine.

NO SIGNS OF REGRET

She told cops the baby had been stillborn, but forensic examinations showed she had had a full-term pregnancy and that the baby had been born alive, STB reported.

The cops also found that Riznyk had not registered her pregnancy, trying instead to keep it a secret.

Lubov Gordievska, a spokeswoman for the Odessa Regional Police, said: “The woman did not register her pregnancy at hospital and gave birth to the baby at home in secret.”

Witness Olena Radko said: “She [Riznyk] was smoking and laughing while watching cops who were pulling the child out of the toilet.

“I did not see any signs of regret on her face when they opened the bag and we saw the dead newborn boy inside. She remained totally indifferent.

“After cutting the umbilical cord, she used the knife without even having washed it to make a sandwich.”

The incident occurred in April this year.

Riznyk was charged with murder two days ago after police obtained the results of the forensic examinations.

She will stand trial soon and faces up to five years in prison if found guilty.

In total, Liliya Riznyk has been pregnant four times, with only eldest of her children having survived.

During her second pregnancy, she had a miscarriage caused by heavy alcohol abuse.

Her third baby died after choking on milk after Riznyk breastfed it and put it to bed.

Each of Riznyk’s children was fathered by a different man, reports said.
