Various cities in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng have shut down due to the looting and unrest. Celebrities and tweeps have raised concerns about the dangers of looting, and how they’ve been affected.

Some cities have blocked citizens from visiting shops to buy everyday necessities such as bread, milk and toiletries. 

TV presenter Minnie Dlamini has shared with her followers about how her parents are starving because of the looting in Durban.

The mother of one has stated that her parents were denied access to the nearest suburban areas because of the colour of their skin.

She stated on her Instagram story:

“The situation in Durban is completely out of hand. My parents are not allowed to buy food in their residential area because they are black! Mom called me [and] told me they have run out of food.

“The families have run out of food, the stores have been destroyed & the ones that haven’t are running low on everything. The mothers with small children who can’t get formula and nappies. The people who are ill and can’t get medication (Still covid),” said Minnie reminding people that Covid is still very much with us.

The reality star previously reminded people that Covid is still out there and that they should protect themselves by wearing masks.

She also called for people to pray for Mzansi on her social media:

 “The entire province waking up with fear every morning and going to bed to the sounds of bombs and gun shots. Yes we need compassion & prayers but we also need to start standing together & helping each other.”
