Meet Ganze: Zimbabwe’s Multi-Talented Music Prodigy
When it comes to music not many people can say they have as broad a repertoire of skills as Harare-based musician Ganze. Apart from playing a variety of instruments proficiently, the multi-talented musician, real name Emmanuel Makanza, is also a music producer, singer-songwriter, composer, and arranger.
Ganze believes that he was born to do only one thing, create and produce great music. In an interview with iHarare, the talented artist said that he never stood a chance to do anything else with his life.
Music is in my blood both parents are singers and when other kids went to Sundays school I was in the main choir playing percussion. I don’t think I stood a chance, I was literally born to do this.
Why I chose music as my career is because it’s my calling and music is my life. At the age of 21, I was given the opportunity to direct the combined schools’ marimba Band and I have never looked back ever since.
The versatile musician is very big on giving back and developing his community. He dreams of opening a recording studio to help nurture the abundant talent in Zimbabwe.
I hope the work I did impacted the lives of all the children I worked with. I hope to give back by nurturing undiscovered Zimbabwean talent and open a recording studio sometime in the future.
Ganze has worked with several upcoming and established artists both local and international. Some of the people he has worked with include Bryan K, Reverb 7, Simba Tags, Africherry, Jaquee from Germany, to name but a few.
Having worked with others in the past, Ganze is now working on sharing his magic with the world starting with the dance song “Zvandinoda”.
This year I will be sharing with the world the magic I have been creating all these years as a testament to my love for music. I really hope that the audience can appreciate and fall in love with my efforts.
Zvandinoda is a feel-good song for all my dance lovers and it was mixed and mastered by the legendary Reverb 7. I hope the listeners will love it too!
Ganze says that he gets most of his inspiration from Jazz and House music. Some of the great musicians who have inspired his craft include Jimmy Dhludhlu, Moreira, Ivan Mazuze, Charlie Parker, Marcus Miller and Richard Bona.
