The eruption of a huge volcano has seen a mass evacuation ordered amid fears that a deadly ‘volcanic tsunami’ may be coming.

At around 7.22am local time on Saturday morning, Taal Volcano in the Philippines “generated a short-lived phreatomagmatic burst”, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

This saw the threat level raised from two to three amid ongoing “magmatic unrest”.

A terrifying warning issued to people in the area now “strongly recommends” a mass evacuation as continued volcanic activity threatens to turn deadly.
