The criminals double-crossed the judge’s car, hauled him out, and shot him.
Stanley Nnaji, a former judge of the Enugu state high court, was assassinated by unknown gunmen.
Nnaji was shot and killed in Enugu on Sunday evening while driving a black Mercedes Benz SUV.
According to a video uploaded on Twitter by an eyewitness, the criminals double-crossed the judge’s car, hauled him out, and shot him.
The event occurred near the Enugu Diagnostics Centre, near the Ebeano Tunnel.
Mohammed Ndatsu Aliyu, the state’s commissioner of police, confirmed the incident and said he has authorized a manhunt for the shooters.
In a statement signed by Daniel Ndukwe, spokesperson of the police command, the commissioner said:
“The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead by doctors on duty and deposited in the mortuary for autopsy.”
Nnaji hails from Mbu, Isi-Uzo LGA of the state.
