The sad incident took place over the weekend in Ayen, a tiny village in Edo state’s Uhunmwode local government district.
A locally made pistol carried by the 17-year-old boy inadvertently exploded, according to reports obtained, and the bullet chopped off his testicle.
Before the misfortune happened while cycling, Osaro had hidden it in his pocket. The gun tore his testicle off and he died before help could come his way.
Eyewitnesses said no one knows how the shot was fired, but when the incident occurred, the victim was alone. This culminated in community misunderstanding.
The youths of both communities had clashed when youths from Ayen sold some plots of land in Owegie community and the youths of Owegie mobilised to the site to recover the property.
The town hall of Owegie community was thereafter allegedly set on fire by suspected gunmen.
