Gran, 61, shot dead on own front doorstep after row as killer 'still at large'

A gran was shot dead in her own home after an argument with a killer who remains at large.

Stacey Klimovitch, 61, was murdered at her front door after a row broke out with an as yet unidentified gunman.

Her daughter, 31, and her eight-week-old granddaughter were inside the house at the time of the bloody murder.

It’s believed the murderer shot her through a screen door of her home in Newcastle, New South Wales (NSW) in Australia, just after 8pm yesterday, Wednesday.

A police cordon was placed around the property while forensics examined the crime scene.

The killer is thought to have ran off after gunning Mrs Klimovitch down. He remains at large.

WARNING TAKEN WITHOUT PERMISSION The woman who was fatally shot after opening the front door of her Newcastle home on Wednesday was the victim of a targeted attack, police have revealed.
Stacey Klimovitch, 61, and her 31-year-old daughter and eight-week-old granddaughter were inside the home when she was shot.
It’s understood Ms Klimovitch had a brief argument with the shooter before the weapon was fired through the screen door.
She was murdered just after 8pm yesterday, Wednesday

Detective Superintendent Wayne Humphrey, of NSW Police, urged the community to remain calm during the manhunt.

“I am convinced that it is a targeted attack, for what purpose I do not know,” he said.

“We do have a number of lines of inquiry we’re exercising… The likelihood of a reoccurrence offence is very, very unlikely. This is a targeted attack.”

Neighbours have called for extra police patrols amid a growing crime rate in the area.

“Stockton, the place that once had a beautiful beach, now has no beach but plenty of car break-ins, house break-ins, drugs, assaults, and now murders,” Ben Davidson wrote on social media.

“An unattended police station is not working … Things need to change.”

Detectives have launched an investigation into the shocking incident.
