Former Springboks’ Coach Peter De Villiers’ Wife Found Floating In A Pool
Former South Africa Rugby national team coach Peter De Villiers’ wife was found floating in a swimming pool.
Sixty-two year old Theresa De Villiers was visiting her family in Fairview, Gqeberha, when her body was found floating by a family member on Monday. She was declared dead on the scene by paramedics.
Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg confirmed the tragic incident: “SAPS Walmer is investigating an inquest after the body of a woman was found floating in a pool in Fairview this afternoon, 4 April 2022. It is alleged that at approximately 12:00, the body of a 62 year old woman was found in the swimming pool at a house in Redbud Street in Fairview. The deceased is from Paarl, but was visiting family in Gqeberha. She was found in the pool by a family member. No foul play is suspected.”
TimesLIVE contacted Peter De Villiers for a comment on the tragedy, but he said he is unable to talk about what had happened.
Theresa’s death comes just over three years after the de Villiers family buried their daughter Odille Monk, who lost her battle against cancer towards the end of 2019.
GOOD party, which elected Peter De Villiers as a councilor last year, paid condolences to the family in a tweet: “Our thoughts and prayers go out to you. May strength, peace, love surround you as you and your family go through this difficult time..”
