Five Women Lure Five Schoolchildren With Sweets Before Injecting Them With An Unknown Substance
In a rather bizarre development, five schoolchildren from Sanzaguru community in Makoni were allegedly waylaid by five women before they were injected with an unknown substance,
The five schoolchildren from Sanzaguru Primary School were injected with the unknown substance by the strangers after they were lured with sweets.
The suspects fled into nearby maize fields after the other victims screamed for help after one of their friends collapsed after getting injected, Manica Post reports.
Makoni District police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Clean Muzondiwa confirmed the incident which occurred on Monday afternoon.
Inspector Muzondiwa said the pupils were returning from school when they were approached by five unknown women who allegedly told them that they wanted to vaccinate them against Covid-19and promised to ‘‘reward’’ them with sweets.
The unsuspecting children allegedly fell for the trick and were injected with an unknown substance and given sweets, after which one of them collapsed.
After one of them collapsed, the other kids panicked and screamed for help. The accused persons reportedly disappeared into the maize fields.
The victim, whose identity cannot be revealed as she is still a minor, was immediately rushed to Rusape General Hospital where she is currently admitted.
Inspector Muzondiwa said an investigation has since been launched to trace the fugitives and establish the kind of substance they administered on the schoolchildren as well as their motive.
Meanwhile, the police are appealing for information leading to the arrest of the accused persons. The police also advised parents and teachers to discourage their children from entertaining and accepting gifts from strangers
