Five Things You Probably Didn’t Know About DJ Dimplez
A dark cloud covers Mzansi again following the death of DJ and hip-hop artist Tumi Mooi who was popularly known as DJ Dimplez.
The hip-hop artist passed away on Sunday 6 March after he collapsed.
His family has already released a statement confirming the sad news.
Here is what you probably didnt know about the hip-hop artist.
DJ Dimplez began his career in 2004.
Choosing a perfect stage name when he was starting was a bit challenging for him. Names like Tombstone and Tumiza were part of the considerations but after settling for DJ Dimplez, his career then shot up to greater heights.
He once worked for Metro FM after he landed himself a slot on the station which was presented by T’bo Touch and included the likes of DJ Milkshake and more.
He was the brains behind ‘Pop Bottles’ which is dubbed as one of the most successful events in Johannesburg.
Speaking to IOL DJ Dimplez said:
“We’re able to pull off Pop Bottles anywhere because hotels know how to handle guests and transport companies know what they are doing too. So the whole plan is to keep it simple and make sure people are having fun. “
DJ Dimplez found himself making headlines following a rape scandal with a woman who was identified as Ms Mamdiarah ’Kinky’ Diakoumpa.
Diakoumpa claims that the two met at Cassper Nyovest’s 2020 birthday celebration. It is alleged that he was too drunk to remember anything that had happened that night leading to him claiming that the woman had raped him.
