Five Players You Didn’t Know Were On Premier League Clubs’ Top African Scorers List

The Egyptian ace Mohamed Salah is among the Premier League’s top African scorers, topping the list with a total of 118 goals with Liverpool. Salah is considered one of the best African strikers to have plied his trade in the highly-rated English Premier League.

Apart from Salah, here are five players you didn’t were on the premier league clubs’ top African scorer’s list.

Quinton Fortune [ Manchester United]

The South African national Quinton Fortune played for Man United under the tutelage of Sir Alex Ferguson, where he spent seven years with the Red Devils. Fortune struggled to make the squad of Ferguson, but the South African managed to find the net five times.

Benik Afobe [Bournemouth] 

The 29-year-old Benik Afobe currently tops Africa’s goal-scoring list for Bournemouth-who recently got promoted into the Premier League. Striker Afobe who plays for DR Congo scored 10 goals for the Cherries between January 2016 and April 2017. Afobe was once an Arsenal player, a club he joined when he was six years old. During that particular time, the DRC Congo striker was on the radar of Barcelona.

Emmanuel Adebayor [Tottenham Hotspurs]

Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor managed to score a total of 35 goals with Tottenham Hotspurs during his stint at White Hart Lane. The former Manchester City striker initially spent the 2011-12 season on loan with Hotspurs, where he scored 17 goals.

The Zimbabwe international Peter Ndlovu became the first African player to grace the Premier league. Having joined Coventry City, the former Highlanders player scored 35 goals, becoming Africa’s top goal scorer for Coventry.

Shola Ameobi [Newcastle United]

Shola Ameobi is Africa’s leading goal scorer for Newcastle United. The Nigeria striker spent 13 years with Newcastle, where he made 298 appearances, scoring 43 goals and registering 20 assists.
