Five governors of the All Progressives Congress would receive a former governor of Ogun State Gbenga Daniel after he dumped the Peoples Democratic Party.
Recall that Daniel was the campaign manager for PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in the last election.
Led by the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee and Governor of Yobe state, Mai Mala Buni, the governors are expected to meet Daniel at his Asoludero Court, Sagamu, Ogun State on Tuesday.
Other governors in the welcoming team include Governors of Kaduna, Kebbi, Jigawa, and Ogun states – Nasir El-Rufai, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, and Dapo Abiodun respectively.
According to a statement released by Daniel’s media aide, the former governor would obtain the membership card before the registration ends today.
Part of the statement read, “Visitation of Governors from the Northern and Southern Nigeria on the security challenges in the South-West.
“The host governor, H.E Prince Dapo Abiodun will lead the Governors to Asoludero Court, Sagamu.”
This is just as two members of the House of Representatives defected to the All Progressives Congress on Tuesday.
The two federal lawmakers are Blessing Onuh, a daughter of the former Senate president, David Mark, and a representative of Bauchi State, Shehu Yakubu Abdullahi.
They tendered their defection letters to the House at the opening of the plenary on Tuesday.
Onuh dumped the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, while Abdullahi defected from the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP.
