A gang of armed robbers pulled off a daring movie-style heist at a local service station when they tied up the staff and proceeded to sell fuel for some hours in order to collect more cash.

The gang is reported to have first hit a Trek Garage in Gwabalanda on Monday at around 0130 AM. The four-armed robbers who were armed with a pistol attacked the fuel attendants and the security guard manning the service station, before getting away with more than US$15,000 and R800.

Barely 24 hours later, however, the gang hit another service station. This time the gang raided Amakhosi Service Station along the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Road at around 11 PM.

The robbers attacked two fuel attendants and a security guard at Amakhosi Service Station where they demanded cash. However, after noting that the cash was less than they anticipated, the gang tied up the workers with shoelaces. They then proceeded to serve motorist and to collect cash for about three hours.

After committing the offence, the quartet fled leaving the two victims tied and lying on the floor.

It is yet to be established how much the gang made off with. The gang also covered their bases and disconnected the CCTV before making off with the recorder.

Deputy police spokesperson for Bulawayo Assistant Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the robberies but revealed that the police were yet to receive detailed information about the Amakhosi robbery.
