Chief Chikwaka Admits Prophet T Freddy And Rutendo Makuti Were In A Relationship As Rape Trial Continues

The trial in which Goodness and Mercy Ministries founder, Prophet T Freddy is accused of raping ZBC Radio presenter Rutendo Makuti continues, the State led its third witness Chief Chikwaka.

Chief Chikwaka has told the Court that Prophet T Freddy and Makuti were in a relationship.

He has said the man of cloth also made some contributions on the funeral of Makuti’s husband and they thought it was it was out of the love of God.

He further revealed that Makuti confined in him as her uncle that Prophet Freddy had proposed love from her and  she was afraid of the tradition that a woman is supposed to wait one year before engaging into any sexual relations with any man but she had feelings for him.

Prophet T Freddy’s defense Council that was led by Everson Chatambudza questioned Chief Chikwaka why his version of events on social media was different from the one he gave in court.

He was also questioned why what he said in court was also different from what he said in his warned and cautioned statement.

Chatambudza argued that Chief Chikwaka might have connived with Makuti to fabricate the allegations.

Chief Chikwaka responded by saying he only told the court what it needed to hear and he answered the police specifically what they asked him.

Furthermore, Chief Chikwaka admitted that both Prophet Freddy and Makuti are not from his area and he had no jurisdiction to preside over the matter as a chief.

Prophet Freddy through his lawyers then asked him why there are allegations that he summoned the man of God to his ‘court’ if he had no jurisdiction to provide on the matter.

Chief Chikwaka answered that he called Freddy to his homestead not in his capacity as the Chief but as Makuti’s uncle.

Prophet Freddy then argued that Chief Chikwaka abused his office by conducting a “kangaroo” court.

Magistrate Gloria Takundwa rolled over the matter to 24 January for trial continuation.
