Brit marries Death Row murderer after telling family she was going to Disney

A British woman has reportedly flown to the US and married a Death Row murderer after telling her family she was going to Disneyland.

Rebecca Short, 26, told her family she was on holiday in the States, but instead married pen pal and double killer Manuel Ovante Jr, 35.

The trainee dental nurse from Oxfordshire, posted snaps from Disney World in Florida, as well as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, the Sun reports.

Then she reportedly shocked her relatives when on April 13 she married the Death Row inmate at Eyman prison in Florence, Arizona.

Ovante’s mother Bridget took to Facebook to share the happy news of the newlyweds, posting wedding pics of the couple alongside the caption: “My son Manuel N Becky got married today, congratulations.”

Rebecca had reportedly told her family she was going to Disney World

Mexican-American Ovante shot two men dead after he went to a house looking for drugs in 2008.

He was sentenced in 2010 and allowed to leave his cell for the ‘big day’.

Rebecca brought a tiered black wedding cake with red rose icing and the message: “Till death do us part!”

She posed for photos with her new husband — in a prison-issue orange jumpsuit — and his family.

Rebecca first became pen pals with Ovante after finding his profile online on the prisonlifeandbeyond.com website, it is reported.

“Very loyal to people I care about. Nobody is perfect, so I hope not to be judged by past mistakes.

“I love to read and listen to music. I have a daughter named Bonnie.

A friend of Rebecca’s told The Sun: “She was always obsessed with watching Netflix documentaries about serial killers in America, but no one thought she’d run off and marry one.”

Rebecca’s neighbour back in the UK said: “She did tell me about it, but I don’t really want to talk about it, it’s not my family.”

Eyman prison currently has 113 inmates on death row, who spend 17 years there on average before being executed by lethal injection.
