Boy’s face sets alight as ‘fire football’ game goes terribly wrong

Horrifying footage has shown the moment a six-year-old boy fell to the floor in pain after he was set on fire while playing with his neighbour.

Dominick Krankall, from Bridgeport, Connecticut, was seen in the newly surfaced footage playing with his eight-year-old neighbour, Stefano Giacobbe and two other children.

They were lighting fires, playing with a flaming tennis ball and kicking a fiery football in the backyard together before Krankall accidentally went up in flames.

The boy was then seen crying as flames covered his head and face. The older child was seen desperately trying to put the fire out in the clip which was recorded in April.

Police claim there was no evidence of the other boys targeting Dominick as he caught fire after either kicking or stepping on a burning plastic cup filled with petrol that was in flames.

The force’s statement said: “There is nothing on the video portraying any of the children deliberately injuring the other.”

However, Stefano has since been accused of setting the Krankall on fire, leaving him shunned by other children who now think he is a violent bully.

When speaking to the Daily Mail, he burst into tears as he said that other children wouldn’t play with him anymore, saying: “They told me to get away from the house and don’t light me on fire.”

His mother, Laura Giacobbe, 45, claims her son has been “cancelled” by friends who he “loved like brothers” as they have accused him of deliberately throwing a flaming ball at his neighbour.

She added: “To have him go through this every day, being accused as a bully, is not fair — because he’s not a bully.”

Giacobbe has since spoken to the New York Post saying that she wants the burn victim’s mum, Maria Rua, arrested for putting her son “through hell” as the bullying claims have led to death threats and the need for police protection outside their home.

“I want her to get arrested because I don’t think it’s fair. It’s defamation of character. She slandered my family. She put my son through hell. She put me in hell. I want her arrested for false statements.”

However, Rua stood by her son, while branding Giacobbe as a “liar” and a “narcissist”.
