April the Giraffe dead: Animal who captivated the world dies after health worsens


According to reports April the Giraffe, who won the world’s hearts with her pregnancy and birth on You Tube, has sadly died.

April and her baby became viral sensations in 2017 when their YouTube videos racked up millions of views.

TMZ has reported that Animal Adventure Park in New York has confirmed the upsetting news.

According to the website April died when her arthritis became too much for her to cope with.

In a post on Facebook this afternoon (April 2) Animal Adventure Park said that it was with the “heaviest hearts” that it announce its “beloved” April’s death.

Thee animal park confirmed that April was put to sleep this morning in her home in Harpursville due to her worsening medical condition and on the advice of her veterinary team.

In the moving Facebook post the staff at Animal Adventure Park wrote: “We grieve with her many fans, near and far, as we say goodbye to the giraffe that can be credited with making a foothold for giraffe and giraffe conservation awareness in the 21st century..

“While her (April’s) hoofprints in her yard will erode in time, the imprint she has made on the hearts of people around the world will never fade.”

April was in her golden years when she passed away having reached the magnificent age of 20.

In captivity it is hoped giraffes will live between 20 and 25 years, which is 10-15 years longer than would be expected in the wild.
