After a bad season that saw Kaizer Chiefs failing to make it into the top four and recently running up in the CAF Champions league, there is need to rebuild a strong team that will compete for the DSTV League title.

In the previous campaign, Amakhosi finished in 8th place with only 36 points out of 30 games.

They only won 8 games, drew 12 and lost 10 games in what was regarded as their worst season. The Naturena based team had a lot of old boys regarded as deadwood over 33 years old.

  • Itumeleng Khune, 34 years old
  • Willard Katsande, 35 years old
  • Bernard Parker, 35 years old
  • Eric Matoho, 31 years old
  • Manyama, 30 years old
  • Leonardo Castro, 32 years old
  • Daniel Akpey, 34 years old
  • Khama Billiat, 30 years old

According to Amakhosi supporters, there is need to have new blood in the squad and new quality players that will make the team challenge other strong teams such as Mamelodi Sundowns, Amazulu, Orlando Pirates and Golden Arrows.

Big names that are to be announced before the end of the transfer window are as follows: Bongani Zungu and Keagan Larenzo Dolly.

Zungu is a South African footballer (midfielder) who is in the books of the French team Amiens which has been relegated to Lig 2. He is now a free agent as his contract is expired. During the 2020/2021 season, he had a successful loan with Steven Gerrard’s Rangers where he helped the team to win the Scottish League with an unbeaten record.

Keagan Dolly is a South African footballer who is in the books of Montpellier, Ligue 1. He once played for Mamelodi Sundowns and won the Premier Soccer League Young Player of the Season award for the 2013–14 season. His contract with the French team has expired.
