The fraud case against the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Abba Kyari has gotten the attention of Nigerian activist, Aisha Yesufu.
According to Yesufu, Kyari should go to the United States and answer for the alleged crime.
She disagreed with popular lawyer, Mike Ozekhome who had in an interview with Sunrise Daily, a Channels Television programme, on Tuesday, said under section 36 of the constitution, Kyari’s fundamental human rights are protected, and that the officer cannot be treated like a common criminal by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
“The FBI cannot come into Nigeria and pick Abba Kyari like a common criminal and take him away to America, it is not going to happen, it has never happened before. I do not believe it will ever happen. Nigeria is a sovereign state and that must be respected within the boundaries of Nigeria,” he had said.
Yesufu however disagreed with Ozekhome.
She insisted that Kyari should face the music.
“Protect country’s image? Protecting the country’s image would have been not shooting protesters, the President not going for medical tourism. Governors not caught on cameras pocketing dollars. N/A not being rubber stamp. Abba Kyari is accused criminal that should face the music!”
